Hot List
I have moved my links for these particular areas to separate pages to try to speed up loading time for the main page. If you are visiting this page mainly for the amateur radio content, these probably are not of much interest to you anyway, as they relate primarily to domestic relations/family law. However, the "Useful Research, Surfing, etc." link does contain items that might be of interest to anyone and I would recommend you check it out.
Federal/State Links; Code of Federal Regulations; UIFSA
Some useful research and surfing tools and Misc. Links

WX and Radar Links for Hams and Weather Enthusiasts
- Six Meter VHF-FM: "The Magic Band" For Southwest Missouri updates and happenings; the Joplin Amateur Radio Club website is a start for more information. 6m locals can often be found on 52.525 MHz and 52.49 MHz simplex, and they have a weekly "net".
- Emergency Management and Preparedness Issues: Researching SEMA, FEMA, as it relates to career opportunities.
- Super site for information about tornadoes...Tornado Project Online.
- Great online magazine for storm chasers: Storm Track.
- The National Storm Prediction Center Web Page.
- Winter Road Conditions from the Missouri Department of Transportation's website.
- The Discovery Channel's Extreme Weather Page is another great weather site.
- Today's storm warnings (national) from the NOAA.
- USA Today's site is excellent for information about tornadoes; and another good one is found at the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation-an English site.
- Learn more about their cousins, the hurricane, at this NOAA site. It has some links to a good FAQ on hurricanes, cyclones and tornadoes.
- You can fly a virtual mission into the eye of a hurricane from the website of my old friends the Hurricane Hunters, who used to be real good at documenting flown covers from their missions. The "good stuff" is a ways inside after entering!
- Since we do have to worry about earthquakes in Missouri, you might want to check out the page on quakes at the US Geological Survey's website.
- Link to local Nexrad radar for greater Joplin area; from Intellicast. Click on the rotating radar screen icon below.
- Support and information regarding SKYWARN (group of storm spotters) who work closely with the National Weather Service Office in Springfield (SGF), as well as nationwide. Click on the SKYWARN button below for more information. Weather Bulletins for Southwest Missouri obtained here: www.crh.noaa.gov/sgf/products/spssgf.htm
- If you are a licensed amateur radio operator and are interested in getting involved in storm spotting and emergency preparedness, visit the National Amateur Radio Emergency Services homepage.
- If you live in the Jasper County, Missouri area, or the immediate Tri-State area, and are interested in participating in local emergency communications, visit the Jasper County ARES website at http://www.geocities.com/jasco_ares/ for more information. I'm sure any of the officers would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
- Congratulations are in order to Jasper County ARES Emergency Coordinator Andy Gabbert, KAØTUD, who has allowed himself to be distracted momentarily by something other than ARES, as he got married on August 11, 2001!! We wish he and his bride much happiness and many years of continued service to ARES.
- The National Weather Service Frequency (WXJ-61) for the Joplin/Carthage area is 162.425 MHz VHF.
