My Story:

Welcome to my Ham Page.  I have been a Ham operator for about one year.  I got my Novice license in April, '99.  I enjoy the HF bands a lot.  In my first day as a Ham operator, I coded 5 wpm with Oklahoma and California.  I was using a Kenwood TS-430s at 100 Watts on loan from KJ6HZ.  Now I use an IC-706MKII and enjoy it.  I also have a dipole on the roof and a vertical antenna that is still in its beginning stages.  I got my Tech + license in July and have learned to enjoy 2 m, 6 m, and 440.  My brother and I are a part of the Western Amateur Radio Association, or WARA. I also have a link to their site at the bottom of the page.  I have enjoyed many DXs in my short ham radio experiance, here are the significant ones,

HR1RMG - Honduras
EA7QW - Spain
Many JAs
LW, LU and CE - Argentina, Chile
VK -Australia
VE - Canada
And many all over the country.  That may not be very impressive to you big DXers, but to me it's a lot of fun.  :-)

73,

My brother has designed a really cool program called SerialKey.  SerialKey lets you type text on your computer and transmit it through your radio.  I used it some and really like it.  It has lots of cool little features like memories, and you can log contacts and print them.  It dates them and everything!  It can send Farnsworth or non-Farnsworth.  With this program, you can type a big, long, message, and leave the terminal to do something.  Come back in 15 seconds and it's still sending away.  That is, unless you are sending 35 or 40 WPM.  In that case, try to wait for the end of the contact.  It comes with the program, the connector to your Serial port, the cable, and the adapter.  It can be purchased with only the Software if you feel confident you can build the interface on your own.  The full package costs $30.  I used that program, and I think it is worth every bit.  Just the Software costs $10, yet another great deal for your money.  You can get more info on it at:

 http://www.qsl.net/kf6rlu/skey.html

Or you can click on the picture of the package.  There is a much better picture on the site.

Thanks for your interest!
