AM Loop Antenna Project

I picked up an old Hallicrafters S20-R the other day.

So I figured I would make an antenna for it. I like the looks of the loop antenna so I am attempting to make one. Here are some pictures of the process.  Below is the frame and base made from PVC.

The base legs are brass tubing pieces soldered together at the cross section. I put white rubber end caps for protection on the ends of the tubing.

Here it is assembled before painting.

After painting.

Starting to string it up!

The smaller PVC goes through the middle of the larger vertical piece by way of a hole I put there by using the edge of my belt sander. Here is a picture that show this.

The base and its connections.

The finished product. Seems to work ok. I like to call this “Black Widow”. The black frame and red magnet wire give it its name.
