NET SCRIPT
November 19, 1999
1. [Ten mins. before net time, ensure the frequency is clear]:
"This is KF4UEL Net Control station for the Clinch River
Simplex Net.
Is the frequency in use?,
Over..."
[ Hearing no response within five seconds, announce the net]:
2. "This frequency is coordinated for the Clinch River
Simplex Net.
Amateurs are requested to relinquish the frequency during
any operations, but it is available at other times for
normal amateur use. The Clinch River Simplex Net will
commence at 2100 hours. This is KF4UEL , Out."
3. [Change frequency to announce the net on National Simplex
146.520.
If time permits announce on other repeaters at your discretion]
"Attention all stations. This is KF4UEL, Net Control Station
for the Clinch River Simplex Net.
The net will meet on 147 decimal 570 simplex, at 2100 hours.
Amateur stations wishing to check into the net change to simplex
frequency 147 decimal 570 and wait for Net Control."
"This is KF4UEL Out."
4. [At 2100 hours, call the net]:
"Attention all stations. This is KF4UEL ,Net Control
for the Clinch River Simplex Net. My name is Mike
and I am located in Castlewood, Virginia. Is there any
EMERGENCY or priority traffic?"
[ Pause 3 seconds. If there is any, handle it IMMEDIATELY!]
5. "This net serves most of Southwest Virginia and
surrounding states
It meets Fridays at 2100 hours, on 147 decimal 570
simplex. ARES and SKYWARN members from any jurisdiction are
requested to
check in, but group affiliation is not required. Any licensed
amateur may
participate."
"This net is a weekly test of our ability to operate on
simplex, This net
will serve as backup if the local repeaters are busy or
inoperative.
Fixed stations wait until Net Control calls for check-ins by
jurisdiction. Unless excused, stations should remain until the
net is
declared informal.
If you require short time please so indicate upon checking in.
Please pause three seconds after each transmission to enable
stations to
request relays and to prevent doubles.
6. "Stations with formal written traffic, or announcements
for the net, call now...
[Acknowledge, but hold announcements until after check ins.
If there is formal traffic handle any priority immediately,
hold routine or welfare to do as training example on the net]
7. "Mobile stations, please call now..."
8. "Fixed stations in Russell County,______
Fixed Stations in Wise, Tazewell or Dickenson county______
Fixed Stations in all other counties, please call now..________
9. "Are there any relays? Any station not recognized, try
again... over.
10. [Pause for relay attempt, acknowledge weak station, and
thank relaying station].
"Thank you < > for relaying < >. Please
stand by to relay again for him as needed until we secure.
13. [After each 10 minutes ID and call for additional check-ins
After program is completed declare net informal]:

Any late check ins, call now...
16. All traffic listed has been handled, the net is now informal.
Stations who must secure may do so.
All are invited to remain as we poll the net for brief comments.
[ Proceed down the roster, take mobiles first, upon completing
the roster,
call once for late check-ins, then close the net].
17. "This is KF4UEL, Net Control station for the Clinch
River Simplex Net,
Last call for check ins before we close, call now...
18. The Clinch River Simplex Net meets
Fridays at 2100 hours on 147 decimal 570 simplex. ARES
stations are requested to observe the Wilderness Protocol
by monitoring their primary ARES repeater and/or
National Simplex, 146.520, whenever possible, for five
minutes at the top of the hour, every three hours from
0700 to 2200.
"Stations may register for ARES and learn more about amateur
radio emergency and public service on the VA ARES web page at
http://www.aresva.org. Weekly announcements are made on the
Dcares ARES net Tuesdays at 19:30 Hours on the 147.015 High Knob
Repeater.
Other Information can be obtained by contacting your county's EC.
SKYWARN stations please report any severe weather to the
approaite NWS,
or contact your local SKYWARN Net with your report.
This net will take snowfall tallies and reports on a regular
basis
during any significant winter event.
