ARES
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is part of the American Radio Relay League ( ARRL ) , the largest amateur radio advocacy and fraternal organization in the United States. ARES in Virginia. or contact our County Emergency Cooridinater's .
These are our district website's
VA Section site
Henry County
Patrick County
Today , ARES provides the organization and guidance to help amateur radio operators establish a local emergency comnmnications group. At the local level, the Emergency Coordinator works with local government agencies such as police, fire, sheriff, search and rescue and offices of emergency
management to determine what emergency communications needs may exist. The Emergency
Coordinator will then work with the local amateur radio community to provide people and equipment
to meet those needs.
How to get involved in ARES. The best way to get involved is to join a local ARES group. If you have questions about A.R.E.S. click here.
