A Hellschreiber website.

A Hellschreiber Website

This site is dedicated to my two main interests, Hellschreiber digital mode and JOTA. Hellschreiber is the "human readable" digital mode invented by Rudolf Hell in the late 1920's and recently revived by IZ8BLY and G3PPT among others. The advent of fast PCs and soundcards have brought this digital mode along with many others to the Amateur Radio community.

The main purpose of this site is to provide a platform for the historical aspects of Hellschreiber and related facsimile systems developed for radio transmission. Murray ZLIBPU began this project several years ago but the amount of material and effort has been overwhelming. So recently I agreed to continue the work on this site.

The other purpose of this site is to promote the joint program between Amateur Radio and Scouting organizations - Jamboree On The Air. JOTA is a two day activity conducted by the amateur radio community and the World Scouting Organizations during the third weekend of October to bring the fascinating world of radio communications to boys and girls all over the world. Check out the photos and stories on my JOTA page.

I encourage you to enjoy these pages and if you have historical information on Hellschreiber related technologies please send it to me at [email protected] for inclusion in the Hellschreiber History Project. Also if you have photos and stories about your JOTA activities please send it and I will spotlight your event.
