John Chaney for

     This page is an introduction to my family and past careers.  Thus, hoping to make a more aquaintable person for this years up coming representative race.  You will also have the oppurtunity to ask questions, which will prompltly be responded to with my plans and ideas.  Not only is this an answer page for questions, but too for the community at large to spark ideas and disscussions with me that will lead to a better economical and industrialized Southeastern Kentucky.

    To give you an insite on myself I will first begin by introducing my family.  My wife is Velma Sharron Chaney who is the daughter of the late Andrew Hensley and Mary (Smith)  Hensley.  We will happily be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary this August.  Velma is a graduate of M.C. Napier High School.  She continued her education on at Hazard Community College, and then transfering to Morehead State where she obtained a Bachelor's Degreee in Buisness Administration.  She plans to strive for a Master's Degree while taking her State Board of Accounting.  Velma and I have two wonderful daughters.  The oldest is Victoria Heather Chaney, who will be a freshman in college this coming fall semester at Hazard Community College.  Heather graduated Hazard High where she cheerleaded for the girl's varsity basketball team.  The youngest of my daughters is Jamie Erica Chaney.  Jamie also attends Hazard High School, where she plays several sports.

     Now for myself, I am 40 years old and I'm the son of the late Eugene (Bo) Chaney and Audrey (Campbell) Chaney of Hazard.  I am one of five sons in the family, which one is my identical twin.  I am a 1976 graduate of Hazard High where I played three sports.  After graduating I attended Hazard Community College for two years where I was awarded an Associate Degree in Science.  Continuing my education at the University of Kentucky where I obtain a Bachelor of General Studies, and then I attended the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.   My career expierences include community retail, chain, hospitals, nursing homes, and worked independently in my own pharmacy.  I am currently employed by Food City Inc. at the Hazard location serving as the Pharmacy Manager.  I have voluntered in several aspects of public services.  I have participated in Boy Scouts of America, I taught the danger of drugs to schools before the program D.A.R.E. was  introduced, coached Pee-Wee League sports, I have officiated several times free of charge for local schools, participated with my Amateur Radio License on Halloween as a Gobblin Watcher, and participated with the Civil Air Patrol.  I also served in the P.T.O. at Walkertown Elementary as President and Vice-President several terms.
