Some College Memories
While at
Colorado  State  University
Many happy hours were spent  by our class in  this area studying  the alpine and subalpine species of life and observing the
effects   of  weather  and  altitude  and  temperature  on  each, plant  and  animal.  Here is where  we learned that "desert"
conditions exist  above timber line due to temperature and altitude and transpiration deficiencies and variances. The summer
of 1955 was spent  here in classes  that  were formal and for which full college credit was given.  This  is the  Pingree Park
campus  where  forestry and forest science majors spend a summer under the tulalage of the world's most qualified forestry
and forest science professors. A tough summer, but we certainly enjoyed this wonderful  experience, even those cold nights.
