This package contains the source and executable code for my PC-hosted CPLAYER mobile MP3 player system. If you have a Sound Blaster 16-compatible sound card, you can run CPLAYER.EXE as-is, although it won't do much of anything without a suitable Optrex LCD display and 4-button control panel attached to your parallel port. See my web site at http://www.qsl.net/ke5fx for details. Please note that because I'm unable to distribute the MSS.H and MSSWAT.LIB files from RAD Game Tools' Miles Sound System package, you won't be able to rebuild CPLAYER.EXE without modifying it for use with one of the freely-available MP3 playback libraries available on the net. (I recommend taking a look at http://www.freeamp.org -- it's one of the more powerful and feature-complete open-source MP3 solutions out there.) Consequently, this CPLAYER source distribution is offered more for "educational" purposes than as a plug-and-play solution in itself. As of July 5, 2000, all source code and compiled object code in this package may be considered "open-source freeware," usable by anyone for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, without restriction or limitation. I strongly encourage, but do not require, anyone who adds any further value to this package to release their modifications and improvements under the same terms. I expressly disclaim any liability for bugs, defects, or intellectual-property violations that may arise as a consequence of using the contents of this package for any purpose, commercial or otherwise.
