WARNING Weather Net Format

CQ CQ CQ Calling all Stations. This is ( Call Sign ) the name is (Name). ( Call Sign Phonetically ) I will be Net Control for ( the period of time ) of the weather event that is current in our coverage area. My location is (location). I am in a ( Portable, Mobile, Fixed ) position, ( Direction of travel if mobile ) .

The National Weather Service has issued a ________________ WARNING for Douglas County until ( time ) hundred hours. Warning is when severe weather has been reported. This will be a directed net. All communications are to be addressed through Net Control. Emergency or Priority must Transmissions must meet standard definitions, and will be handled accordingly. Emergency is a sudden and unexpected state of affairs calling for immediate ection. Priority is something that takes precedence over other things.

At this time we are in condition YELLOW. Is there any emergency or Priority traffic that needs handling? Hearing None.

Your Check-In Instructions are as follows.

1. If you are stationary, do not move without notifying Net Control; unless you are in imminent danger, or you are going to your pre-assigned stationary viewing area.

2. Mobiles that must remain moving please report your location to Net Control every 15 minutes.

3. If you must leave the Net for any reason please notify Net Control.

4. When checking into the Net, say “This is” release your mic, and wait to make sure your not doubling, key your mic and give your call sign the normal way, your name, and then your call sign phonetically, location, portable, mobile-or fixed status, direction of travel if mobile and how long you will be available.

5. “I will now take check-ins for this weather Net.”

The Instructions for this Net are as follows.

 A. Consider your own safety at all times.

B. Only your direct observations are reportable.

C. All reports should follow the TEL reporting procedure. Time, Effect, and Location.

This is a ______________Warning. We expect rain, thunder, lightning, wind, and low cloud formations.

The following are the only reports the Net Control wishes to hear from Spotters.

1. All HAIL, regardless of size.

2. WINDS measured or estimated to be over 50 mph.

3. IGHTNING that hits a person, building, electric services, or causes damage resulting in blocked roadways.

4. RAINFALL that accomulations threaten flash flooding.

5. WALL CLOUDS with confirmed rotation.

6. FUNNEL CLOUDS

7. TORNADOES

The following are reports the NET Control DOES NOT wish to hear from Spotters.

1. DO NOT engage in Storm Chasing

2. DO NOT ereport Thunder

3. DO NOT repeat commercial radio or TV weather reports, radar descriptions, or police and fire department transmissions that you hear on scanners.

This concludes Net instructions at this time. I will repeat the Net Instructions from time-to-time. Please listen carefully to the Net. Instructions can change quickly with events.
