The Julia and David Art Colony, Ciudad Colon

The Julia and David White Artist Colony is home to six resident artists each month. Artists, writers, and composers live in the one room studios on the grounds of the 17 acre colony, owned by Dr. William White, who founded the colony in 1996.

The colony overlooks Ciudad Colon, a city of about 15,000 located 20 miles west of San Jose.

Hillsides are covered with a mixture of wild banana trees, grapefruit, lemon, and bamboo.

Poolside at the colony, where I made a handful of contacts using a tent pole vertical.

Don't like the view? Just ask Carlos, the colony's ace maintenance man to cut a better one for you!

Sunsets are beautiful in the tropics, but don't last long. My daily dilemma--work the short gray line or appreciate the view?

No, this isn't a remake of that famous James Bond scene--just one of the fellow artists clowning with an ex-resident of the colony.

These are (very sour) wild lemons posing as fine looking limes amidst a bamboo grove.
