Systems below 900 MHz on this list may contain a combination of digital and voice paging. Firefighter voice paging is not included on this list, as these operations are found on the old frequencies used by public safety agencies before they moved to 800 MHz. In gathering data to update the 2002 information previously contained on this page, I observed two things: First, a lot of the systems below 900 MHz are no on the air. This I was expecting. I was also expecting to find a significant reduction in 900 MHz activity. With Arch buying Pagenet, then merging with Metrocall to form USA Mobility, I had thought that consolidated operations would be a foregone conclusion. I was surprised to find the total number of 900 MHz frequencies in use had only declined by one. Four previously in use no longer had activity on them, but this was offset by the three new operations.
