Futility in Protecting People from Themselves

The various links/pages listed below are in place to support (or deny in some aspect) the idea of futility in protecting the public from themselves and other careless members of the public. The first section Futile is to show how it fruitless to put in place laws, ordinances, and other such restrictions to protect the individuals in our society from, essentially, themselves and people very much like them. Section entitled Not Without Purpose? is composed to present the other side of the argument, basically stating that people need certain things to protect them and others from influences that cannot be easily controlled. These specific arguments are refuted in subcategories under the Futile section.
