I live in Northern Nevada about 30 miles from Lake Tahoe in a place called the Carson
Valley. The area is nearby big city Casino action in Reno (about 30-90 minutes away
depending on how heavy your foot is)and rural living (population 50 thousand, 100 of which might be human). I am Comp Sci major (at least that is what I have been saying for the last three years) and I want to minor in Math.

The day after my test I went down to Radio Shack (You've got questions we've got the
generic answers) and tried out the HTX-202. Since there was a lack of licenced hams in the shop I was going to use a fake call sign (the one I made up I later found out it was a
real one) and hit a repeater. The beeping and the (pre-recorded) voice scared me. I said
I was not interested and went over to a friends house. He let me borrow his own HT-202 and said he was going to call the FCC. The Carson Valley with a view of Lake Tahoe. (from CVRC webpage)
