KD6PAG - Electronics Companies
All of these sites are 'under construction' and will hopefully improve
with time. Here's a few that were found largely by making educated
guesses... Many of these have automated fax systems, even if they
don't have their datasheets and other documentation on-line yet. It's
slow, but it's faster than the U.S. Post Office (if you have
a suitable modem, and viewer or printer). More such listings would be
gratefully appreciated. -

A much longer list of such companies is available courtesy of the
Stanford
student branch of IEEE. There are some of special interest to
amateurs.
This category of information changes quickly, so expect some improvements over what is noted herein.
- Motorola currently has their
Master Selection Guide
(as searchable .GIF pages),
OEM Price Book
(database lookup) and a fax-back service. They also have some databooks and application notes
on-line in a searchable form, including RF Device Data and
Fast and LS TTL Data. The individual datasheets can be examined
as .GIF files, or via PDF Readers (e.g. Acrobat Reader from Adobe Software).
- Harris Semiconductor has both
Postscript
documents and a fax-back service [these examples are for Digital
Signal Processing (DSP) Products]. The PostScript documents aren't well
organized yet, so use the fax-back pages to help you figure out what you
want to look for in PostScript format.
- Philips Semicondutor has some interesting things referenced
in their
Wireless Communications page (don't miss items under General Information). Their
fax-back service has a document index which as helpful as it could be. So now
there is an alternative index to
their automated fax system.
- Zilog has contracted out
their WWW pages, but it is still under construction, and does not appear to
include a fax-back service at present. They are slowly getting some
component data on-line.
- Intel
- Texas Instruments
- AMD (American Micro Devices)
- QualComm
- Western Digital (disk drives, etc.)
- National Semicondutor,
which only has one application note so far, on a
simple 20W switching power supply.
They did a good job on their sample datasheet
(LM1575) but we may have a
long wait on useful information, as they're ambitious about what they're
doing.
Not very useful (yet):
You may also want to tour the
Semiconductor Subway
and perhaps visit
SEMATECH.
