W6JDJ MacJay S. Soriano

Jay is originally from Dalahican, Cavite City, Philippines and is now residing in the beautiful city of Anaheim, California.  He graduated with a technical course certificate as a General Radio Communications Operator from Palawan Technical School, Philippines in 1986.  He then became a telephone operator with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) Palawan Branch for two years.

His first exposure to radio communications in the United States was in 1988 by way of Citizen's Band (CB) and became a member of the 600 Series Group of Orange County in Anaheim.  Known as "El Diablo", he became such an avid CB operator that he lovingly named his vehicle as "The Towering Inferno Mobile".

In 1989, he got his Novice Class license as KC6HJW and soon after that, 1989, he upgraded to Technician Plus and got the call sign KC6MVL.  Just recently, again he upgraded to General Class and got the vanity call sign W6MVL.

He found amateur radio to be the best hobby he ever got involved with and shares it with his wife Mandy, KF6ASR.  He also plans to introduce the hobby to his two sons, Andy Shane and Daryl Anthony as soon as they are old enough to press the PTT.

Besides being a member of the Spider Amateur Radio Club, MacJay is also a member of Kalayaan ARC and the Lotus Amateur Radio Network.
