KD6GFN  Ruben Vega Jr.

Ruben Jr., who prefers to be called "Junior," is originally from Manila, Philippines. He is now residing in the beautiful and luxurious city of Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the East, Metro Manila , Philippines, Junior enhanced his skills by pursuing and becoming a Certified Network Administrator (CNA) and a Certified Netware Engineer (CNE). With his combined experience as a controller/accountant for various insurance companies, his Business degree, and computer degree, he currently the MIS Manager of a major insurance company in Southern California.

Following Junior's migration to the United States in January 1973, Junior started transmitting in the airwaves using Citizen's Band radio in 975. Then he upgraded to amateur radio by passing the FCC Amateur Radio examination with a Novice class license in 1992. Since then, Junior has been active in the hobby and held memberships with various Southern California Filipino-American amateur radio clubs including the Eagle Rock Amateur Radio Club, Lotus Amateur Repeater Relay Network, Kalayaan Amateur Radio Club. He is now a member in good standing with the Spider Amateur Radio Club of San Diego and the Omega Communications in Anaheim, California.

Junior enjoys the amateur radio hobby with his family who are also fellow amateur radio operators as well: his wife, Leny (KF6ALJ), his daughter Rishell (KF6GRX), and his son, Ronald (KF6ALU).

Besides amateur radio, Junior spends his spare time tinkering and programming computers, going camping, playing bowling, listening to the stereo, and watching the latest video tapes.
