Hello, I am new the the Amateur Radio hobby.
I always wanted to get my 'ticket' but was always put off by the morse code test.
When I found out that to get my Technician license I didn't need to know morse code anymore,
I figured that I would give it a go, So I studied a little and passed. My mothers boyfriend
has had his 'ticket' for quite a few years and kind of rekindled the fire to get licensed.
Now my 13 year old son wants to get his 'ticket'.
Right now the only radio that I have is an Icom IC-T2H 2 meter handheld. I am planning
to get a nice dual-band (2 meter/70 cm) mobile that I can put in my truck and also bring
inside to use at night. I am mostly listening now but occasionally I key up and talk.
