Who I am

One of the operating activites that I enjoy is operating the Louisiana QSO party as a mobil or portable station. My co-operator for the LAQSO party is Mike KC5OKP. We can be found during the QSO party on 20 or 40 meter phone as WA5MC, as we active rare parishes in Louisiana. http://www.qsl.net/kd5wdy/LAQSO_/laqso_.html

For the LAQSO party on Feb 14, 2009, we plan to operate portalbe from Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Plaquemines parish was devestated by hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Since then rebuilding has been slow but the parish is returning to normal. Listen for us on 20 and 40 as WA5MC. We will be operating with an Icom 706MIIG, and hamstick diople.

I try operating any time the conditions and work allow, but my passion is special event stations as well as any QSO party that conditions allow me to operate.

I am not a QSL collector but I do answer all QSL's. I am on LOTW and E-QSL.

My station at home consist of a Yaesu FT100MP and an Icom 706MIIG with a 5BTV vertical mounted on a chain link fence. The fence acts as the radial and performace is quite good.
I use the 706 as a mobil reg with hamsticks when I get a chance to travel. I work in the retail business so I don't get to travel like I want too.

I have been active on 6, 10 15, 20, 40 and 80 meters. When mobil I am usually on 20 meters.

Thanks for coming by,
John
