MARCH 1, 2003 BARC BOARD MEETING (by John KA5COA)
The BARC Board meeting took place at the County Airport on March 1, 2003. Attendees were: KC5TAR, KA5VZM, KD5CXD and KA5COA.
Activities discussed were:
1. The next meeting will be at the Lake Jackson Library meeting room.
2. We will contact the City of Angleton on the use of the Field Day site between Kroger and the Police Dept.
3. The training class still needs a site.
4. This months program will be on FD and upcoming events.

The BARC Board meeting took place at the County Airport on November 2, 2002. Attendees were: KM5J, KA5VZM, WB8PHO, KD5CXD, KD5HTM and KA5COA.
Activities discussed were:
1. Election - Current officers have agreed to run on the ballot for next year. The activities director has agreed to stay on for another term, as the current planned activities have brought up attendance for the Club.
2. Newletter - Phil, KD5HTM, has agreed to continue publishing a newsletter based on a simple MSword.doc format. We will try to publish newsletter one week ahead of the next scheduled meeting.
3. Voting - We will use a paper ballot at the December party/meeting. We will also use an E-mail ballot for abscentee voting.
4. Repeater - Eric, KA5WMY, said that Spectrum should have the machine back by Tuesday. The reciever board had problems and was replaced due to cost of repair and tuning. The control board had a faulty component and was repaired. The next step will be to schedule the installation of the system at the repeater site. The board agreed that all ham radio equipment at the repeater site should be Club owned equipment.
5. Jamboree on the air - KM5J, KC5TAR, KD5CMN and KD5CXD worked with Scout Pack 503 for 1.5 hours and had a lot of fun. The Cuboree event at Camp Karakawa has been rescheduled to December 14 due to flooding.
6. Field Day - We discussed having FD 2003 at a more public place in Angleton on June 28 weekend.
7. Sweepstakes - This event will be hosted at the QTH of KM5J.
8. XMAS party - The BARC and LJ Computer Club christmas party will be on Friday, December 6, at Chillies. We discussed the door prize and decided on $25 cash door prize for the BARC member winner present at the party.
9. Emergency Communications - We discussed the need for BARC to interface with Rick Perry during an emergency. We decided on a tabletop planning session with a few key members and Rick Perry to define our role. Another discussion would be held by BARC to write procedures to accomplish the needs of the County.
10. Upgrade Class - BARC needs to have an upgrade class in the first quarter 2003 due to public requests.
