At the local level:

All ARES volunteers should prepare a "jump kit" with equipment and supplies in case of activation. This kit should allow the volunteer to operate in the field for a period of no less than 24 hours.
Many clubs maintain a "war box" with supplies and field equipment for a 72 hour operation.
Although not a part of ARES/RACES, most of the BARC members are trained by the National Weather Service (NWS) and participate in Skywarn storm spotting. The KD5AYE repeater can be linked (via the N5YU system) to the NWS during severe weather activity in our county.

The Arkansas Ares/Races Training Net will be back on its regular scheduled time, 7:00 local time, on 3.987.50 following the Arkansas Razorback Net.

If you are a licensed Amateur Radio operator residing in the Independence County area and wish to volunteer for ARES / RACES,
please contact one of the persons listed below:

Independence County is in District B.

Attention! The EMCOMM Simplex frequency for Independence County is 146.510 MHz and should be monitored, in addition to the area repeaters, during communications emergencies.

The Independence County [BARC] ARES Group provided communications support for the Annual White River Canoe Race for the first time in 2006.
