Title: Re: TS-50 & power on 160m As a matter of fact the Belgian/French version of the TS-50 has only an output power of 10 W. The clue to change the country version is with the diodes D1 - D 6 on the Digital Unit PCB. The Belgian version is apparently marked with -E2 whereas the European version is marked -E. Studying the circuit diagrams lead to the conclusion that the difference between the two versions is diode D1 at the border of the PCB. This diode needs to be removed to switch to the -E version. Note: I have not tried this modification myself. The TS-50 documentation is very vague about the differences between the different versions. My recommendation is to check with Kenwood or your local dealer. I do not understand why there is a Belgian/French version anyway - has this anything to do with import regulations or PTT approvals ?
