Arrival Time:  7:30 p.m.

T
he Field Day Co-ordinator (K4VET) was gone on my arrival.  I was told they were running a 1A station, HF and packet.  They had sent a total of 13 packet messages using a packet set-up and antenna by Lee (W4ALZ).  They were using a dipole antenna at the top of the mountain for HF.  They in past years used
with the dipole a vertical antenna in hopes of making contacts with Alaska and Hawaii in the early morning hours.  At my time of arrival they had logged 35 states.  Although, I'm not big on contesting they had a good set of numbers going.  They had problems with a power supply that set them back some in time.  They had
a good turn out during the day, Ed (W4KMA) was the operator on duty on my arrival with a scheduled of Dan (WB4RGS) their CW operator to arrive at 3 am
to do nothing but CW.  Bill (KE4KQQ) was on the mountain most of the day and was scheduled along with Ed (KD4RLH) to share with the night time duties
with Bill (KC4TDC), William (KI4JDA) and myself (KD4OZI) also Chris (KI4RCL) arrived after midnight looks like they had a very good turn out of
operators on the midnight shift..

This is not my air launcher.  It belongs to ED (W4KMA) the antenna builder.  The launcher is pressurized with 50 Pounds  PSI  of air and will launch a tennis ball over 200 feet in the air.  It was used to get dipole antennas in the air.  Ed said patent pending. I'm here because it's my very first launch.  My job is to get the ball when (if) it comes down.

Up, Up and Away, Houston we have a launch.
