Here is a picture of my prototype Okie Key. The way the wind blows here you need a heavy key to stay put. No really I designed it to keep simplicity in mind as well as functionality.

It uses magnets instead of springs and I used aluminum for prototyping. I wanted to use brass in the final product but fell in love with the polished aluminum.

Also it has flanged ball bearings for the arm pivots. No silver contacts and all hardware is of polished stainless and aluminum and am going to see how they hold up.

Final product will also carry a ¾ X 3 X 5 inch base with common simple stick on feet which can be replaced with anything down the road.

Testing has been a blast as the best way to tailor the settings is to get on the air after initial setup. I like the ckackity clack it gives off and a nice snap when pressing even with very light tension (as I like a light setting). I sure enjoy using it on air as it is solid as a rock. No sticky rubber feet as on the Kent as years later I see why they had to use them as they tend to walk around the table if they are not sticky. I like my K8FF key's but you have to lick the feet to get them to stick like the Kent. I have been using K8FF keys since they started kitting (I think I was on the first batch when they were made available) and thats when I found I liked the feel of a magnet and the nice snap.
