Ode to the Chigger

Poison ivy causes pain,
It makes you want to scratch,
But you've not experienced itching
Till you're in a chigger patch!

Those devils keep you going,
They give you quite a fit,
They aggravate you on your back,
And on the place you sit!

Just douse them with some liquid heat,
Please don't strike a match,
Pray that they haven't laid their eggs,
Or that they never hatch!
Ode to A Louse

Oh, creepy little creature,
How you embarrass me,
You make an outcast of us all
In polite society.

When we all least expect it,
When we are unaware,
You scurry to our eyebrows
From somewhere in out hair.

We'd rather you'd stay hidden
When others are around,
But, no, you have to show yourself
To everyone in town!

Stay hidden, crawley creeper,
Stay hidden under hair,
I'll soak my head in gasoline,
I'll burn you out of there!

I may be bald for several weeks,
Can't get out of the house,
At least I will have rid myself
Of you, you itchy louse!
Ode to the Bedbug

Ode to the Bedbug

In days gone by so long ago,
Some folks have never seen
A pest that just came out at night,
Boy, was that creature mean!

He bit you where you'd not expect,
Your blood he would devour,
He didn't care which type you had,
He'd drink a quart an hour!

We called this thing a bedbug,
Or chinches, if you will,
No matter what we called it,
It always drank its fill!

He lived there in the mattress,
He'd hide under the button,
He loved the taste of human blood
As wolves liked taste of mutton!

The only way to catch that thing
Was catch him in the act,
Then put the pressure on that bug
Until you heard him crack!

You have been warned of chiggers,
Of lice and bedbugs too,
Be on your guard at all times now
Or they will biteth you!!
