RS-15:

Launched: Dec 26, 1994

Orbit: 2022 Km Period: 128 Min Typical Window: 30 Min

RS-15 is a Low Earth Orbit satellite in currently Mode A SSB. On this satellite, the Doppler affects the Uplink the most, but not as severe as RS-10. Even though the down link is 10 meter, a Tech. or higher can run this one. (The limits are on Transmission not reception) RS-15 is lower power and is in a higher orbit than RS-10, so it is a little more difficult to work.

Linear Transponder:

Mode A

Uplink 145.858-145.898 USB/CW

Downlink 29.354- 29.394 USB/CW

Beacons:

29.3525,29.3987

Equipment Required: Mode A SSB

Antennas:

Uplink: 2m Whip 40W, Egg beater, or tracking Yagi.

Downlink: 10m Whip and preamp, Dipole is better or a beam with AzEl. rotator.

Radio:

2m USB transmitter with 100Hz steps or better, 10m receiver with preamp.

Other:

Trackers are not needed for this bird, a 10 Meter Yagi would be a bit big. However, software for the Doppler is helpful. This satellite has a large foot print good for medium DXing.
