June Field Day The Washington County ARES/RACES organization and the Antietam Radio Association jointly support the ARA Field Day activities. Field Day is scheduled for the last full weekend in June each year, and is sponsored by the ARRL. For the last few years this event has been held at the Litersburg Ruritan Park. This is both an operating and social event for these organizations. We especially encourage visitors, new amateurs, and inactive amateurs to join us and have fun. All are welcome to operate the stations (under supervision, as needed and required) and keep our records (log the contacts). Some of our stations just operate on Saturday and a few only during the day time, but then there are some of our stations which really do operate all weekend. August MDC QSO PARTY Each year the Antietam Radio Association sponsors the Maryland D.C. QSO party. As a part of this the Washington County ARES/RACES organization encourages it member to participate. In 2003 we provided some of the equipment for the "Special" station at the Litersburg Peach Festival - which was the location of the ARA Club Station W3CWC. Ride Through History Each year the Cedar Ridge Ministries sponsors a "Ride Through History." This event is a fund raiser for them and a lot of fun for both bicycle riders and motorcycle riders. It tours Washington County and points out some of the historic features of the county. November Citizens/ Emergency Preparedness Day is held in November at the Robinwood Medical Center. This event features all of the organizations involved in responding or assisting the responders to an emergency. Washington County ARES/RACES sponsors a table and usually operates an HF as well as a VHF station from this site. JFK Ultramarathon The Washington County and Antietam Radio association jointly support the John F. Kennedy Ultramarathon each year. The JFK Ultramarathon is held each year the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
