HIDDEN VALLEYS AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
October 11, 2005
1. President Hap Daus KC9BGA called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM in the Alliant Energy meeting room
at Mineral Point. Present were: Charlie Campbell KA9BDX, Henry Crapp KB9QBM, Hap Daus, Art Evans
N9KQ, Evie Evans KB9KVD, Jack Izzard KF9TN, John Kuntz KB9RYI, Pam Kuntz KC9YHB,
Bob Lewis WA9REL, Tom Lauritis KB9SJC, John McFadden N9ZLK, Roy Shaver N9NUZ, Randy Stojan WV9T.
2. The minutes were not read, but approved as sent, describing the Fish Fry/picnic at UWP’s valley park.
Chef Charlie was applauded.
3. Treasurer’s Report. Randy had collected $35 in August, paid out $10 for the corporation reregistration,
and $89.76 to Roy for NYT course textbooks. Reported a balance of $580.88, not counting $20 for a
book sale and Bob Lewis’s $25 for 2006 dues. Motion to approve (Evie/Hank) – CARRIED.
4. Committees:
a) Disaster. Hank reported quiet late summer except for spring flooding in Monona, IA, which
displaced 15 persons. Hap reported on various ham contributions to the gulf disasters.
b) ARES/RACES. John reported that data collection is in process to identify area hospitals and to
create memoranda of understanding between hams and the emergency community and the hospitals.
Southwest Health Center seems ahead of most other area hospitals.
c) Website-Jack said he would provide links to Des Moines Register photos of the RAGBRAI event.
Also, that he had set up two more hams with digital capability.
d) Repeater – Len Krier cleaned dead bugs and mice out of the repeater and it is now operating
normally. There is a web address for quick info access to Len when the repeater is malfunctioning.

e) Education – HVARC’s fall class was canceled for want of students (one showed up).
f) HVARC Net Controllers: Randy will take net Sunday 16th of October
Hank will take 4th Sundays
Jack will take 5th Sunday (30th)
Hap will take 1st Sunday in November.
5. Old Business – Fish Fry on Sep 10th was resounding success.
6. New Business
a) Planning session for 2006 – discussed. Another special events station was discussed and other
modes of activity.
b) Christmas party – Windsor Hotel in Platteville on December 4th, 2005. 6 pm social hour, eating off
menu about 7 pm in a side room. Windsor is between Oak St. and 2nd Street.
c) Elections. President – Art nominated John Kuntz
Vice Pres – Randy nominated Art Evans
Treasurer – Hank nominated Randy
Secretary – Hank nominated Roy
For directors: Hap Daus (ex-officio)

Bob Lewis Voting will occur at November meeting.
