The February meeting of the Sheboygan County Amateur Radio Club was called
to order by Vice President Neil, KR9F, at 7pm local time. There where 7
members and 1 guest present at the meeting. The SCARC meets every 2nd
Tuesday of each month at the Red Cross building, 2032 Erie Ave.
OLD BUSINESS
Club insurance has been secured for another year, thanks to Neil, KR9F.
Through his efforts we where able to save about $80 this coming year.
Fox and foxhunt are still in planning stages. Mike, KD9TZ, is acquiring
parts to construct the new fox. If you where involved in previous foxhunts,
start looking for those old directional antennas and plan your strategies.
Tuesday morning breakfasts are still being held at Interstate Plaza.
Highway Bakery is again open, but at the present time not for breakfast.
Another reminder of the possible time change for the 2-meter nets during the
winter to a 7pm starting time. Please voice your opinion on the Monday
night nets so the Board has an idea of how the members feel about the
possible time change.
The March meeting will be final planing for the April 17th brat fry, at the
North side Piggly Wiggly. We need help to make this another success, please
plan on a couple of hour's of volunteer time.
NEW BUSINESS
May is election time for the SCARC. All positions need to be filled. Time
for some new ideas in the organization, step forward and give it a try.
Wisconsin QSO Party is March 14th this year. The club station will be open
and everyone is welcome to stop in and try a little "contesting". There
was also some discussion of using the W.A.S. award during the QSO party.
For those who might not know about the WAS award, it was designed by Joe,
W9ODV, (SK) as a "Worked A Sheboygan" award. Any station working several
Sheboygan county stations was eligible to apply for the certificate. Further
discussion at the March meeting.
Saturday, April 24th is the Plank Trail event. This event lasts about 4
hour As from 8am till 12 noon. A free lunch is offered to any operators who
work the event. We would like to see about 6 operators present. This is a
good event for "first timers".
Linda, KC9DLO, in her first attempt at contesting placed 2nd in the female
operating category for the LightHouse contest. Congratulations Linda!! O
yes, hubby John, AB9HH, place 5th. Now that's teamwork!!
Attendance Prize drawing was held and Tim, KC9BRB, was drawn, but Tim was
not present. 50/50 winner for the evening was AA9SJ.
