Hi There! I'm Joe! I've been an Amateur Radio Operator since November 2, 2000 when I got my Technician Class License. I've been interested in radio and communications since my teenage years back in the 60's when I happened to buy an old Delco wooden tabletop radio. I discovered that this radio had a short-wave band and I was hooked! My next radio was a Hallicrafters S-77 receiver and with it I became an active SWL'er. Anybody remember the old "WDX" numbers? I was WDX3IIX in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Believe it or not, I still have both of those radios in working condition! I wish that I had gotten involved in Amateur Radio back then but I always thought it would be too complicated.

Right now I'm only active on VHF and UHF since I haven't upgraded yet. I'm studying the code though, so someday I might make General.

My main rig (if you can call it that) is a Yaesu FT-4700RH dual-band mobile radio running on a power supply.

Antenna is a homebrew dual-band copper pipe J-pole. It does suprisingly well for being homemade and cheap!

I've also got a Kenwood TH-79A HT that I'm very pleased with.

I am a member of the A.R.R.L. and the Hillsdale County Amateur Radio Club.
