On the air since May 31, 1999!

After 20+ years of threatening to do it, I finally sat down and licensed (Technician) at the Dayton Hamvention on May 25th. Good thing too, as I took that opportunity to also spend way too much money on equipment.

I'm running on a CushCraft AR-270 for 2m and 440Mz, and have installed (but not proven) a 134' center feed dipole. I'm interested in making some DX contacts as soon as things are setup properly and tuned in.

My rig is a FT-100 hooked up to a MFJ-969. I've got a PK-232MBX hooked up as well for packet work, but I don't have the transmitter cable built yet -- another quickie project to annoy the kids.

For portable work I picked up a ICOM IC-T8A, (from my buddy K8KDR) which I'm pretty happy with for repeater work. A single Mag-mount on my "I Can't Believe Its Still Running Mobile" should let me start working frequencies while tooling about town (Columbus Ohio).
