The Amateur Radio Support Organization is the Amateur Radio Club that works in conjunction with the Rogue Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross Emergency Servcies to provide emergency communications in times of disasters.

The radio operators are not only Ham radio operators, but are also Red Cross volunteers and have knowledge of all facets of Red Cross operations including, damage assessment, mass care and family services.

KC7SKR works also with it's sister station AAR0CAB, a US Army MARS station, which is also housed in the same communications room, giving the operators assigned to this station greater flexibility in passing traffic on other frequencies.   AAR0CAB is also a member of the SHARES organization so they can communicate directly with governmental agencies such as FEMA in times of disasters.

KC7SKR has both voice and digital capabilities on both HF and VHF. It serves all of Southwestern Oregon from Medford, Oregon. The Chapter has jurisdiction over Jackson and Josephine counties in Oregon and is the only HF capable station for the Red Cross in Southern Oregon.

KC7SKR works in conjunction with WX7MFR the National Weather Service at Medford, Oregon and it's function as the Emergency Communications Center for Jackson County and it's sister station AAR0CMF, a US Army MARS station and SHARES station.

George Doersch, KC7CJC/AAR0DB  and Karl Hargrave, KD7EYA/AAR0FO/T make up the prime operators for this station.  We also use other volunteers from the Jackson County ARES group to support our operations during times of disasters.

If you would like more information about KC7SKR or any of its sister stations, drop us a note at [email protected] and we will be glad to send you any iformation about the station.
