Frequently Asked Questions


 

 

  1. Q: I understand that the repeater has an autopatch.  How do I access the autopatch? A: The autopatch is accessed by the following procedure:
    • Make sure that your signal into the repeater is capable of effectivly sending the DTMF tones. 
    • Type *23 and unkey, this will instuct the repeater controller to take the phone off the hook.
    • Type in the phone number you would like to dial.
    • After the person you are calling picks up the phone inform them that you are calling them via an amateur radio autopatch. 
    • When you are finished with your call hang up the phone by typing #.
    • Identify who you are with your call sign.
  2. Q: Who can use the autopatch?  A: The autopatch is avaliable to all licensed amateur radio operators.  You do not have to be a member of the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club.  Please feel free to share the access codes.
  3. Q: Who pays for the operation of the repeater.  A: The repeater is funded by the club.  If you would like to contribute to it's maintenance please join the club or contribute by sending us a  check.  There is no requirement to pay anything to use the system. 
  4. Q: I have a question about the operation of the repeater.  Who do I contact?  A: The repeater is operated by the club.  The designated contact for repeater issues is Dave KC7RRH.  If your question is simple I will address it if I can.  If it is more complex I will forward it to the board.
  5. Q: How do I report a problem with the system?  A: Please do not discuss problems with the repeater over the air.  Please email your observations or questions to [email protected] 
  6. Q: Is this an "open repeater"?  A: The repeater is open to all licensed hams.  It's use is encouraged.
