One of the reasons, I first wanted to become a HAM when I was 12 but my father put our radio that a friend and I had built in the trash because he got a electric shock from it. The other reason was cause I liked, ( Ha Ha ) to talking to people. I played around with a CB when I got older, like most of us but not too much. One day, I was on my motorcycle, and out in the desert. Well I got lost, and thank God, it was not long, till I ran into the Sheriff. He was out in the desert cause he was looking for some one else who was lost. He did not know about me. We talk for a while and then we went back to a town so I would know where I was. I had lunch with him and his men. Yes, they did find the person they were looking for. The Sheriff was a HAM Operator also and he began to tell me about HAM RADIO and how it could save my me a lot of trouble. Specially (HA HA ) if I was going to continue to ride around in the desert. He told me about how great it was to be able to have a system that you could (HA HA) reach out and touch some one and also get help if you needed it.
