I am on APRS and if you like, you can find my station and everyone else in my home area here on my APRS page.

My name is John and I have been a licensed Amateur Radio Operator since early 1996.  I enjoy the occasional "Rag Chew", whether it be on HF or VHF.  I really enjoy contesting.  My favorite contest station is AA5NT.  In my spare time, I am usually on PSK31 if I am not on the local repeater.  I am also a member of the Dallas County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES).

Let me give you a little background.  While growing up, myself and a few close friends were bit by the CB bug.  As I grew up, I grew more and more tired of the foul language and comments constantly heard so, I turned the radio off for the last time.  As far as I was concerned, that was the last time I was to be in a radio.  I knew about Amateur Radio but did not know much about it.  I did know that I had to know morse code in order to get a license.  I knew what morse code was at the time.  I also thought that it would be extremely difficult to learn.  So, I never gave Amateur Radio another thought.

One day, a very close friend of mine, Jesse - KC5LOS, told me that I needed to get my license.  Needless to say, I did not quite understand what he was talking about.  After some education, and learning that the morse code requirement was dropped, I obtained my license.  So, here I am today.  Later I did learn morse code and have since upgraded my license class to Extra, which is the highest license you can obtain.

If you are interested in becoming a "Ham" or would like more information, please visit THIS page, made possible by The ARRL. Feel free to explore the links on the left.  Again, feel free to email me with any questions or comments you may have.

For those of you looking for QSL information, I QSL 100% on eQSL.  Paper QSL's take longer for me to send.  By default I enter all my logs into eQSL and if you are not a member, I try to send a paper card as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, please email me.
