On Saturday, September 18, 2004, ARES in conjunction with Wal-Mart, the Red Cross, and Office of Homeland Security setup a information booth at Wal-Mart in West Monroe. Antennas were put on the roof and coax brought down through a skylight to the radios.

E-mail messages were sent out by the HF radio to show people how messages can go out during an emergency when phone lines and electric power is out. CW messages were sent and received to a mobile radio in a car traveling on Interstate 90 in South Dakota.

Several people visiting the display showed interest in studying to get an Amateur Radio license.
