| On Saturday, June 4, 2005 a group of ARES provided Communications for the annual Marengo Swamp Run fund raiser for Wish I Could of NE La near Hebert, Louisiana. Wish I Could of Northeast Louisiana is a charitable organization that was created in 1984 to grant wishes to terminally ill children from the ages of three to eighteen years old in northeast Louisiana. The person in charge of Wish I Could of Northeast Louisiana asked some ARES members less than a month ago if we could provide communications for them. In the past they had tried different things that did not work in that area. We showed them that we could set up our radios and give them the communications they needed. There was a Communications center set up near the concession stand. Radio operators were at three other locations around the riding course ... at the start point, the suicide hole and the levee. ARES members that participated were Mark (K5ER), Kevin (W5KGT), Larry (N5ASA), Melinda (KC5RJY), Alan (KE5AJC), Chad (KM5QF), Mack (KA5JNL), Randy (KE5ESU), and Tim (KD5URP). Pictures were taken by Melinda (KC5RJY) and Larry (N5ASA). Click here to go view pictures of Command Post area. Click here to go view pictures of Start Point area.
