My Interests
Boating - I've spent a
lot of time around pleasure boats (sail & power), and have traveled
throughout most of the Caribbean and Bahamas. I enjoy anything that has to do
with water, i.e., boating, diving, skiing, etc....
Amateur Radio - My
callsign is KC5FZW, and most of my operating is done on 2 meters. There are
some really good 440 repeaters in Houston, so I spend some time there as well.
Repeaters are convenient and fun, but I also enjoy trying for DX on a good day
(or night)!
My Family
Both of my parents are
from North Carolina. My father's work in the aerospace industry took him and my
mom to California, which is where I was born in '63. Shortly thereafter, we
moved to Clear Lake City (near Houston), to be close to the Johnson Space Center
- NASA. I have two younger brothers, Kevin and Brian, and they are both
terrific! I'm divorced, and have a beautiful daughter, Margareth
("Maggie").
Myself
I attended public
schools growing up. Afterwards, I tried my hand at college, but wasn't quite
serious enough, so I joined the Army in '85. I served for three years, with
tours in Europe and here in the US. I also spent several years in the Army
Reserve, where I had the opportunity to travel to other interesting places
while on active duty. I later continued my college education. My personal
interests have carried over into my career choices. In the late '80s to early
'90s, I had a small business that specialized in cellular phones and other
communications equipment. I did very well with that. My most recent endeavor
(since '93), has been building and selling personal computers, which is
definitely challenging and very interesting... to say the least.
