OLD RIGS (Boat anchors) I'VE OWNED
Item Description View
Hammarlund HQ-215 All solid state 1960's Rx Image
Vibroplex Iambic Paddle My dear old mom bought this for me when I was a young teenager. I still use it this very day. I love CW and am teaching my young children code as well. Image
Heathkit DX-100 Parents bought this for my birthday for $50. It really deserves the name boat anchor because it weighs in at over 80 lbs. When I got this, it didn't work (bad low voltage supply). Took me all winter to fix it... but it was worth it. I don't have a good picture of the thing so I'm including a link from another ham's website. I think I'll ask his permission to lift the jpg image from his site, if he doesn't mind. Image
Hallicrafters HT-44 I havn't actually been able to find a decent picture of this on the net yet. I owned one of these around 1980. Apparently there is a matching Rx for this Tx. called the SX-117 Ham Receiver. Here is a picture of the SX-117. The transmitter looked nearly identical. Image
Hallicrafters TO-Keyer You can actually see one of these "up close & personal" at the ARRL headquarters in Newington, CT. It has a funny tube in it which glows (can't remember... but I think its called an OA-2 tube). This is the second electronic keyer I ever owned (the first was a very early model transistorized which I brought back to the store in exchange for this one. This was a bit fluky... but reliable, and I see lots of them for sale on E-bay from time to time.

Anyone interested seriously in CW MUST consider getting an electronic keyer IMHO.
