Welcome to the web pages of:

Right is the operating position (click on it for a bigger picture),

OK, lets give you a quick rundown; Left column top to bottom is a Datong FL3 audio filter, center is the redoubtable IC735, workhorse of the shack. Bottom is an MFJ 452 keyboard keyer and the comms. speaker. Center column top is an MFJ 941 ASTU which offers several antenna connections as well as a balanced line input, below is my venerable TS520S. No W.A.R.C. bands on this beauty but what a radio. The right-hand column, top are two digital clocks, one local and the other Zulu time. Middle is the classic Heathkit HW8 QRP Radio and matching PSU. On the bottom row is a switched mode PSU for the Icom and other station accessories, Also there is my K1EL WinKey and my AirWaves Microsystems microkeyer. Below the desk is an MFJ989C ASTU and below that is, yes, an amplifier though to be honest I can’t remember the last time I used it in anger. I have a cassette tape recorder which is hooked up to the FL3 for recording QSO’s. Atop that is my ICOM VHF rig (awaiting an antenna connection). To the back on the left of the monitor is my Kenwood Hand-Held and hiding behind the monitor is the ICOM CI-V computer interface for the IC735. The shack computer is an “E Machines” Pentium which controls all the shack “housekeeping” duties as well as the digital comms applications.

On the desktop to the right are my three “operational” keys, A Hi-Mound HK-802 (Swedish pump look-alike), a genuine Swedish Pump and a set of Bencher Paddles. All radios are configured to run no more than 5 watts out (CW) 10 watts (PEP SSB)

Hi I’m Wayne and thanks for stopping by.  You already know I’m a Ham Radio operator (that’s why you’re here, right?). I have a passion for operating QRP and especially CW. That said I enjoy all aspects of Ham Radio especially encouraging newbies in the hobby and folk of all ages who are just dipping their toes into the fascinating waters that are Ham Radio.
