Sound Card Solution.

If you are reading this you likely own an important piece of equipment that will allow you to use APRS without investing in a Terminal Node Controller (TNC) -- your sound card!  Most sound cards will work, all you need is a "line in" and a "line out" jack and you're all set.  You will also need a sound card interface..

bulletStandard Sound Card Option
bulletInstall a second sound card in your computer.
bulletA basic 16 bit sound card is inexpensive and can be purchased for around $20.00
bulletIf you choose this option, be prepared to battle some IRQ conflicts
bulletIf your computer has a USB port and you want an easier solution, try a USB sound card.  Several companies manufacture USB sound cards, which start for about $40.00

.

bulletSound Card Interface Options
bulletThe BUX Comm Rascal GLX Mark V is a low cost option that can get you on the air
bulletKits without cable run around $15.00 and completed units can be obtained for about $40.00
bulletIf you have a newer computer that does not have a serial port, you may need to pick up a USB Serial Port adapter
