The other transceiver is an Icom T8A triband handheld. This radio has 6m, 2m, and 70cm, with 5 Watts.
Antennas
A triband copper cactus (J-pole)
antenna is used for 6m, 2m, and 70cm work. This antenna was homebrewed
from plans found on the internet. It is mounted on a rooftop tripod.
For HF work a Carolina Beam 160
Special is used. This is an off-center fed wire dipole antenna for
160-10m. This antenna was purchased from Radio Works.
PSK 31 Interface
The PSK 31 interface was built
fom a kit sold by K4ABT "Buck" Rogers. It is isolated on both the
transmit and receive lines from the PC and plugs into the IC-706's Accessory
port.
Computer
The computer in use here at this
station is a Gateway 166 MHz Pentium PC. Currently there is 32MB
of memory installed.
