Orange & Lawrence Counties Scanner Data

Due to an FCC ruling all public safety and business band frequencies were forced to go narrow band in 2013. As the users switched over to the new narrow channels some have switched to digital and/or encrypted radios. The frequencies listed here will still mostly be the same, but you may now only hear buzzing noises on your analog scanner. Using a digital scanner will "possibly" decode the narrow digital transmissions if they have not been encrypted. If your scanner can't pick up your favorite group you will always be able to listen to the Amateur (ham) radio bands. Known Digital and/or Encryped Frequencies Highlighted.

Tornados

Over 100 tornados are shown in this video!

For complete weather information in the Lawrence County area I recommend the NOAA Weather Radio station WWG72 at Georgia IN. The station broadcasts 24/7 at 162.500 MHz. Also useful is the Louisville KY NOAA station KIH43 broadcasting at 162.475 MHz, and Bloomington's WXM78 at 162.450 MHz. With a small weather alert radio that monitors the Specific Area Message Encoding "S.A.M.E." system. You will hear emergency messages for your local area only. NWR is an "All Hazards" radio network, making it your single source for comprehensive weather and emergency information. NWR also broadcasts warning and post-event information for all types of hazards – including natural, environmental, and public safety. Click the link above to visit the NWS website and learn more about National Weather Radio and S.A.M.E. technology. If you don't own a weather radio and would like to listen online please Click Here for a pop-up window from the Anchorage KY Weather Center that plays the KIH43 Louisville KY radio station! Or you can listen to the 7 day forcast from the Georgia NWR station WWG72.
