Re: Kenwood tk931, 941, 981 Gene, in looking at the 900mhz rptr. on ohioaprs.net, I see 3 rptr's for tx.. One is a 12mhz split, one is normal 25mhz (in low out hi), and the third (KD4LXC) is this unique (In high out low) that looks like you are you are trying to get to work.. With most people shying away from 12mhz due to the lack of available equipment working in that area of the band, this config would be a magnatude harder.. I suspect as someone has said, it might be a mistake.. If you look at his call, maybe KD4LXC is DysLeXiC.. ;) As for question on moving Kw equipment lower in the band, the TK-941 would most likely be the easiest with just a front end filters changed out and maybe a minor adjustment of the VCO.... Here's a picture of a TK-941 with the filters changed: http://home.hvc.rr.com/n2mci/pic/tk941ftr.jpg And another picture of the various 915mhz filters used in KW and other radios.. http://home.hvc.rr.com/n2mci/pic/915mhz3f.jpg The TK-981 uses the same 3 pole SMD filter as the TK-941, but the VCO range is much less that the TK-941.. Work will be needed there and the space it's in, does allow easy access to it.. The TK-931 uses 1 3 pole "Through the Hole" and 4 pole.. The 4 pole is not available, but thanks to Gene W7UVH, an alternate can be made by putting two 2 pole filters in series.. Sorry, no picture of alt. 4 pole filter.. The TK-931 will need more work to increase the range so it could cover the whole band, as its range seams to be the smallest of these 3 radios.. To my knowledge, no one as increased the range of the VCO on any of these radios.. Folks have only moved the TK-931 range down to make rptr. recievers.. Hope this answers your question... -73, Pete N2MCI --- In AR902Mhz@yahoogroups.com, "Gene Rodgers" wrote: > > Is there anywhere I can get instructions on how to tune a kenwood to > receive in the 902 range. If you want to use the TK941 to receive at 902, you will have to change the filters TK941 Rx sensitivity improvements Thanks to Tom and John for posting the before and after receiver senstivities. Looks like the TOKO 4DFB filters make a worth while improvement. When comparing the before Rx of 1.06uv from Tom, and John's 0.175uv the improvement is over 16 dB (16.4dB to be exact). 1.06uv = -106.5 dBm 0.175uv = -122.1 dBm
