Now that you have finished tweaking your HTML, you must upload the files to QSL.NET. If you are not sure how to do this, please visit: QSL.NET's FTP Tutorial.

Upload Instructions

• Log into QSL.NET as you normally would to upload webpage files. When your see your files on the right side of the WS_FTP window, click the MKDIR button on the right side of the WS_FTP window. A dialog will come up that looks like this...

  Type in "guestbook" (no quotes) as shown in Figure 1. Then click the OK button. This will make a directory called guestbook on QSL.NET, in your directory. Your guestbook files will be stored here.

• Your screen will look something like this...

  Change to the guestbook directory buy double-clicking on it or by using the CHDIR command

• Transfer the files: addguest.html ; guestbook.html ; guestlog.html to QSL.NET. They should go in the guestbook directory that is in your directory.

• In order for the guestbook to work properly, you must set permissions for two of the three files (guestbook.html ; guestlog.html). This is accomplished with the CHMOD UNIX command.

  Select both of the files (guestbook.html ; guestlog.html) using the mouse and the CTRL key on the keyboard. Then, right-click on the selected files. Your screen will look something like this...

  Select chmod (UNIX) from the menu. Another dialog will pop up on the screen...

  Check the all the little boxes on your screen so that your screen looks like Figure 4.

  If you can't read the picture, check these boxes...
  Owner [READ-WRITE-EXECUTE]
  Group [READ-WRITE]
  Other [READ-WRITE]
  

  NOTE: You will need to CHMOD your guestbook files everytime up upload them.

• You're DONE! Now you have to try your guestbook out. The address should be: http://www.qsl.net/YOU/guestbook/addguest.html
