Bert was one of the founding members of the Decatur County Amateur Radio association. It was through his extreme generosity and love for ham radio the made this club function. The club met and still meets at his business thanks to his sons Byron (N9LQL) and Rob (N9URM) who are also member of the club. Bert served the club as well as the community to the best of his ability. He was always the first to report in when severe weather nets were run. You could always see his smiling face at the local hamfests. He will be sorely missed. The club now holds Bert's callsign as a memoriam to him and to keep his efforts in ham radio alive in Decatur County.
