Organized Amateur Radio started in Decatur County, Indiana when the Decatur County Amateur Radio Association was formed in 1987 by a handful of dedicated Amateur operators in hopes of becoming a growing group of radio hobbiest with a desire to share their love for radioing. The group has grown and is now an important participant in community service. There are approximately 15-20 members. Most of these members are active participants in everything from Field-Day to being Skywarn Severe Weather Spotters. We are hoping to continue growing and also hope to continue having fun as well as serve the public to the best of our ability. The club also sponsors SkyWarn Spotters training every February at the Letts Volunteer Fire Department. Contact one of the Members for more information. Recently the club has had a callsign change to N9LQP to honor a founding member. Also the name of the club has changed to "Amateur Radio of Decatur County, Inc."after becoming 501-C-3 incorporated. We also now have a VE TEAM in the county and had our first class and VE testing session February 3-10, 2007. We have turned the corner to a new era and are looking forward to the challanges and fun ahead of us all. We wish you all 73. ARDC address is: 6014 S County Rd 600 S Greensburg IN 47240 USA It was a lengthy process for the club to incorporate and obtain 501-C-3 status. This finally was accomplished on June 21, 2005. We are hoping to apply for grants that will inable us to serve the community to a greater extent. |
