She was a member of the First Church of God in Fayetteville. Surviving are a son, Edward A., Fayetteville; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Bess and Mrs. Nancy Jeffers, both of Fayetteville; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Edith Emmons, Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Rae Underwood and Mrs. Violet Bartuslak, both of Beckley; five brothers, Wesley, Phoenix, Ariz., Isaac, Beckley, Robert, MacArthur, Okla., Grandview and James McKinney, Roanoke, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Wills, Pipestem, Mrs. Lula Keaton and Mrs. Eliza Birchfield, both of Lester and Mrs. Sarah Farley, Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Church of God in Fayetteville with the Rev. William Dreger and the Rev. Charles Thompson in charge. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The body will be taken from the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville to the church one hour before the service.

General Notes: Edward Allen "Ed" Poff, 90, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, at home. Born on February 14, 1919, at Boomer, he was the son of the late William Edward and Zella Ann McKinney Poff. Mr. Poff was a member of the Bell Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dixie. He was a retired mix unloader at Union Carbide, Alloy, and retired in 1972. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Estel Poff; and four sisters, Edith Ammons, Rae Underwood, Violet Bartustic, and Edith Bess. Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Nadine M. Poff of Fayetteville; two sons, Allen R. Poff of Gauley Bridge, and Joseph D. Poff of Fayetteville; one sister, Nancy Jeffries of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Edward Allen Poff II of Fayetteville, and Rachelle L. Legg of Hilltop; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Lee Holliday officiating. Violet Keaton Wood

On Wednesday, April 23, 2008, Violet Enice Keaton Wood of Lester went home to celebrate life with Jesus at Bowers Hospice House following a three-year battle with cancer. She was in her 70th year.

Born Sept. 25, 1937, at Hotchkiss, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lula McKinney Keaton.

Violet attended Lester First Church of God, where she shared her ministry of music and song. She was a member of the Keatons, a local gospel group. Violet wrote several songs, including “We Had Love and Music,” “Greenbrier River” and “Talk It over with You, Lord.” Her singing voice is her legacy.

Violet was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Jackie Wood Asbury; a sister, Edna Birchfield; and five brothers, Basil, Henry, Roy, Joseph and Shelby Keaton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, Lacy Harold Wood; two daughters, Vicky “Bunny” Daniel and her husband, Bill, of Maple Meadow and Angie Wysong and her husband, Tim, of Wood’s Cove; two sons, Marty Wood and his wife, Lisa, of Slab Fork and Curtis Wood and his companion, Donna, of Lester; eight grandchildren, Shannon Daniel White and her husband, Jerry, Sarah Daniel, Matthew Asbury, Tara, Amy and Artimus Wood, Jamie Doss and T.J. Wysong; two sisters, Ethel Birchfield of Lester and Helen Beech of Ohio; three brothers, Robert Keaton of Glen Daniel, Elvin Keaton of Maple Meadow and Larry Keaton of Georgia; special friends and care givers, her two nieces, Linda Taylor and Karen Birchfield, Shirley Kuhn and Bennie Keene.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow at Woods Family Cemetery at Wood’s Cove, Maple Meadow.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary and one hour before service Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Artimus Wood, Denny Birchfield, Lincoln Birchfield, Sean Sherrod, Tommy Wood and Bruce Keaton.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy can be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.

Toxoplasmosis. An orginsam that causes the retna of the eye to scar, thus the image on the retna is some whst spottie. This condition is carried by CATS and affects children who are pre-birth to 1 year after birth. This condition is prevelant in children whom are malnurished. Edgar was adopted by Okla and Arawana.

Edgar's suposed name was Ronald Francis Armstrong. His Blood-Dad was Francis Armstrong and Blood-Mom was Pauline MEADOWS.

The story has his Blood-Mom being either a "Gode" (Check spelling) or "Widener". Needs clearing.

Edgar -- Ronald has several Blood Brothers and Sisters.
