Interest in amateur radio started in my teen years when in 1957 I attended a local ham radio club meeting at what is now the Catalapa Amateur Radio Society (CARS) and it
prompted me to study for the FCC novice class license and I received the call KN8LIH. Later I upgraded to technician class and
received the callsign of K8LIH. This was a milestone in my early experience.
As I continued with other interests my radio hobby faded until computers came along and I began attending the Hazel Park Amateur Radio Club. I received my present amateur radio station call of KB8CHV. Amateur radio is an exciting hobby as well as being useful in community service.
