The Hammarlund HQ-215 receiver is a rather rare item. It was manufactured by Hammarlund and sold in 1968-1969. I bought mine from Henry Radio in Santa Monica, Calif. in 1971. It has been an excellent receiver for me. It has never had a component failure or an alignment. Although I have never had the opportunity to do a direct comparison, I believe its performance compares favorably with the Collins S line. Anyone have an S line contender? It's specifications are excellent and a block diagram and a schematic are available. a complete manual is available on BAMA. Here are some more views of this receiver. Pictures taken with my iPhone 5S and reduced in size for quicker downloading.

The HQ-215 came equiped with a Collins mechanical filter. The standard filter was a 2.1kHz type for SSB use. There are two additional filter positions which were commonly filled with a 500Hz filter for CW and a 6kHz filter for AM. I can remember seeing used filters at Henry Radio for around $25 back in the 1970's. I sure wish I had bought them! Now they are about ten times that price.
